Honestly I am sick of all the Giveaways going on the past few months. Angela Scott has I think 3 going on at any one time and as one ends she starts another. Paul Mihai Pavel seems to be following in her foot
steps by having one once a month and there are others that are just flooding the net with giveaway after giveaway after giveaway.

We had what 7 Christmas giveaways, a plain jane no graphics giveaway, graphics giveaways, video giveaways, PLR Giveaways and on an on and on not to mention all the New Years Giveaways that have popped up. and everyone looking to get you to upgrade so they make money.

You have your 17.00, 27.00, 47.00, 57.00 upgrades and we can't forget our unscrupulous marketer with his 9.95 upgrade. If we were to upgrade at every giveaway we'd be broke and the people that run the giveaways would be rich which is what some giveaway operators are looking for.

I personally have decided not to run 2 different giveaways because there are just too many giveaways going on and I didn't want to be apart of the cycle and it is just degrading our business. Sure times are hard and more and more people are loosing their jobs so they are turning to the internet to make
money, but with all the giveaways going on who can sell anything when it's being giving away all the time?

I remember the days when there were only a few giveaways a year, spaced out not 10 on top of each other and it was of Great value. Today with so many giveaways going on it is hurting the Internet Marketing Business.

For 2009 I have decided to run only a few Giveaways myself and to Handpick those that I will join and announce. I am not going to announce those that are being run by the same people week after week, month after month. They are only in it for the money and it shouldn't be that way.

Those that only have a few special Giveaways throughout the year I will announce and promote as they are truly List Building giveaways and not cash cows for the operators.

Well with that said I wish everyone Healthy and Happy Holidays, (Non PC Correct - Happy New Year) I will
see you in 2009.

Have a GREAT Holiday Season

I stopped even looking at them unless they are well known, once a year, giveaways like the 12 Days of Christmas.

The same stuff shows up on 99% of the giveaways anyway. Marketers have been getting a little tricky lately by titling the giveaway by niche in an effort to suck us in.

Thanks but no thanks.

Personally i would have to disagree.

The number of giveaways does not really affected the usefulness at all.

What has killed the giveaways is the "Paid For Immunity".

What is "Paid For Immunity" you might ask. Well basically this is when the contributor for the giveaway purchases a "OTO or Special Offer" allowing them to bypass having to promote the giveaway.

What does this accomplish ?

MUCH LESS promotion of the giveaway event. I mean seriously, if you can pay 27 bucks ( give or take ) and have your gift listed on the first page and not have to promote, ARE YOU GOING TO PROMOTE. Didnt think so,  your going to pay your OTO fee and sit back and let others do the promoting for you. Well what happens when half your contributors are doing the same thing ?   NO TRAFFIC to the giveaway event = Minimal New Subscribers for EVERYONE, not just the contributors, but also the event admin. Sure the admin is probably getting quite a bit of money for the Upgrade Offers,  But the event overall is going to be a flop as the amount of promotions is going to be minimal.

If you follow a couple simple guidelines when you are planning a giveaway, it will be a huge success.

#1 : Theme your giveaway - have an event that is targeted to ONE market, does not really matter what market, could be ebooks, scripts, software, PLR only, articles, videos, you name it. If your giveaway event is themed, EVERY person that comes to the site knows exactly what they will find inside available to download.

#2 : If you do offer contributors a OTO ( or upsell ) DO NOT offer immunity from promotion, the whole point of a giveaway event is to build a list and how can you do that if you are letting contributors not promote the event. Offer other things to the contributor such as Extra Gift Entries, Ability to add a "Special Offer" to the event, Products, Services, ect..  Anything but immunity.

I have run MULTIPLE giveaway events over the years, I have used MANY different scripts and have developed my own that has the features i wanted and none of the BS some of the other have.

I follow along with my 2 simple guidelines for the most part EVERY one of my events is a success for EVERYONE, I get alot of new subscribers to my list, the contributors get alot of new subscribers to there list.

Of coarse there are ALWAYS a few that will join as a contributor, Do MINIMAL promoting of the event and complain they did not get many optins.

Well i would have to ask the contributor:
Did you do your fair share of promoting?
Did you have a gift that is of use to the members?
Was the process of getting the gift as streamlined as possible? ( having to jump through a dozzen hoops and see umpteen offers before you actually get your gift will definitely decrease the amount of optins you get )

If run correctly EVERY giveaway event can be successful.

Giveaways are definitely not a waste of time. If everybody knows the value if you get some of those giveaways, it is a big help to them. This is really a good opportunity for us.
